Crypt of Curiosities: Ishiro Honda's King Kong Movies - Daily Dead

  • The Suitmation- game was Weak.
    • seriously, don't blame the budget, blame those who'd ignore the fact that this particular element in these films is what makes these films unique. So not getting the suitmation and the mini-sets right is really gonna affect the outcome of the movie itself. But there are other problems within this movie, as well.
  • The Movie was stretched out, and the story was bleak.
    • at first, I thought it was because of the fight scenes being correctly choreographed to produce a sort of 'heaviness' to the monsters movements, but as the movie went on...yeah, the whole movie felt heavy as fuck. It felt twice as long as it was.
  • Mecha-Kong was under-used, or misused altogether.
    • I was waiting for a technological advancement of this caliber in these movies, where humans decide to build machines big enough and strong enough to fight back against Godzilla or King Kong or Ghidorah. Something like what Pacific Rim was able to do perfectly with their plot. But no, Mecha-Kong was useless against King Kong.
  • The plot was stupid. The acting was mediocre.
  • Dr.WHO? Really? And what was up with that Element X? Was it Nuclear Power? Unlimited Energy?
    • Why did Nelson and Dr. Who know each other? Just why were they working together before the beginning of the story? What was their plan for discovering King Kong? I get the scientific research part, but that doesn't add up if you'll consider this movie being connected to the previous ones.
