Productivity, Self-Pride, Games, Time.THE MODERN HIDALGO: Entry_079.
Written: Tuesday. January 28, 2020.
I was able to do a number of things today:
- Read a chapter of a book.
- Played a game (Chrono Trigger).
- Exercise while watching a TV Series episode (Arrow Season 2, Episode 17).
- Watched an episode of Combattler V (Episode 38), while writing down notes on it.
- Watched an episode of The Twilight Zone (Season 3, Episode 91).
- Watched an episode of Ben 10 (Season 4, Episode 4).
- Watched an episode of Flame of Recca (Episode 1).
- Recorded a very long video which I’ll be editing in due time after today.
- Watched a movie (Ford V Ferrari).
- Watched another episode of Combattler V (Episode 39), while writing down notes on it.
And here I am. Writing down this journal entry for today.
Just writing down the list of things I’ve down for today, and looking at it afterwards, is already giving me a sense of accomplishment for today. This day was a productive day. And it could still be more productive. I haven’t been able to wake up early in the morning in order to get the legs worked up. Hopefully by tomorrow — I know I keep on saying that shit — I get to fucking get my ass out of bed.
A lot to do.But then again, who decides what I should and shouldn’t be doing? Me. That’s right. That goes for you too. Don’t you ever forget it. You are the master of your universe. Control it. Hold it inside your hands. Do with it what you please. Cause it’s yours and no one else’s.
A lot that I can do.
A lot that I want to do.
Not a lot of things I should be doing.

So enough of that bull-crap, let’s talk Games.
Games are very much something I wish that I could be doing more of.I don’t do it much within a day. If I do, I don’t feel productive. That’s why I use Habitica, to keep me level-headed. But still, Habitica isn’t a game, it’s a gamified product that lets us, the consumers, be able to get our shit together. If we’re not gonna sugar coat it, that’s exactly what Habitica is. An RPG-esque life fixer for you and me.
No. I wanna talk about games that You and I both would want to spend time with.
Games like Chrono Trigger, or Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pac-man, League of Legends, Metroid, Pokemon, Digimon, Harvest Moon, Minecraft, Mega-man, the list goes on and on from there.
I’m a Nintendo kid.
Meaning, I grew up playing a lot of Nintendo when me and my brother were growing up. I feel like I’ve said it before in a previous entry, but I don’t get to talk about this enough. I wish there was a way for me to grab my life by the balls and just freely be able to play any game I want to play, for however long I want to play that game, and be satisfied at the end of the day.
The reason why we want to play games is because we can’t get enough of it. There’s too many games to choose from. There are games that last as long as a life time.
Take a look at Dungeons and Dragons. That’s a game you could literally play with your friends for as long as you want your campaign to last.
Take a look at Minecraft. You’re essentially building your own universe! And you could make a million other universes, at that!
Chess is a game you could play countless of times, making limitless kinds of moves in a game. Win actual wars because of a game of Chess.
While I was playing Chrono Trigger awhile ago, I was looking at the clock to see how long I’ve been playing. It’s a fickle thing — Time. It’s either our ally or our enemy. I could never decide which it is. But one thing remains clear: it’s always there. Haunting us with each second that passes.
And the thing is, Time is made up. It’s an illusion we created for ourselves. Animals don’t worry about time, they have no sense of what that is. They can exist without it — are existing without it.
Yet still, I have this undying lust for time. I lust over it in stories, in movies, in dreams. Time, as much as we hate it or love it, we’ll want more of it. And we could never do so, unless we live in the Twilight Zone.
So, back to games.
I’ve been playing Pokemon Red Rescue Team again. Techincally, I haven’t played it in a few days now. I’ll probably do a session after today. See, that’s the thing about games. You want to play different games all at once. Because of the whole time thing that I just explained to you.
But I only end up hating myself for trying to play these games at the same time. Can’t I just fucking play a single game until I finish it? Me and my bloody insatiability.
Okay, here’s I wanna go through this:
I’ll play Chrono Trigger for about 30 minutes per day. Play Pokemon Red Rescue Team for as long as I finish a new dungeon. And then the third game that I’m playing, Jetpack Joyride, I’ll play it until I’ve managed to get the S.A.M. ride for each day.
What else? I’m not really playing Clash Royale anymore. There’s a problem with my phone that I’m too lazy to solve in order for me to play Clash Royale on it, so. At least that’s one game I’m not playing anymore. It was a long ride — about 4 years of a long ride — but now that ride is over.
I’ll be playing Minecraft again on my phone once I’ve bought myself a decent Bluetooth Controller, which might be in the far future. But that depends on whether or not I get money to buy a controller.
- Future games that I’d like to play: Kirby’s Dream Land 3.
- Future books I’ll be reading: Color of Magic, then Eye of the World, then maybe Great Hunt or Carrie. Depends.
- Future books I wanna find: The Invisible Man (second-hand, hopefully); The Time Machine (second-hand, hopefully).
