Old Omens: Journal Entry #027

Written: Monday. September 6, 2021.

A few things to talk about today. I was able to sleep early yesterday. I slept around 12:30 am, and could've woken up at around 5 am or so, but I think I woke up at around 8 or 9:30 am awhile ago? I can't remember. I didn't really keep track of time this morning. I just sort of started my day by reading a book.

I finally finished reading Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan: one of the most boring books in the series, and this is coming from someone who's gotten bored with the series since book 4. I finished the damn book, and I'll be starting Crossroads of Twilight tomorrow. Maybe.

It'll be Gaming Day tomorrow, so I might not read anything entirely, other than the novel I'm working on re-editing. I was able to fix 2-3 chapters awhile ago, which was nice. I hate that I didn't cover more chapters within the day, but that's only because there are external forces at play, that deny me the strength to focus on that task. Whenever I sit down to fix the novel, I'm at the desktop computer. So the TV would be on, my dad would be arguing with my mom, or there'd be some commotion happening behind me. Whatever the case, I lose my focus.

And I can't just move my work on Google Docs or whatever. It has to be in Microsoft Word, because I'm turning it into a readable PDF. I tried moving it to WPS, but that shitty app doesn't take outside fonts. I have a specific font that I installed that's used as a common font style for books. Google Docs doesn't allow me to upload new fonts into the system, which sucks. It means that I have to deal with Microsoft Word...on my Desktop Computer.

My Laptop can't do Microsoft Word. It just couldn't do it. Although, I haven't actually tried finding a good torrent for it yet. I might do that later once I'm done with this journal entry.

In other news, I watched a movie yesterday. I watched this Chinese movie titled "A Writer's Odyssey". It was a good movie, except for its ending. It could've been a good ending, if the editing was just different. They could've showed the main character's child in real life look at him directly, and not just slightly show her, then cut back to the fantasy world. It sort of robbed the audience of the satisfaction of finally seeing the father with his lost daughter.

Other than that, the movie was great. The CGI was fantastic! The quality was something that I haven't seen before. There weren't any flaws in the CGI! That's what's so amazing about it. Hollywood doesn't stand a chance to their level of CGI. And this is coming from someone who hates the Chinese. Well, the ones that scam people and take other countries' islands. I might try looking for other Chinese movies that rely heavily on CGI. Or I might try to find Chinese movies that just have good stories to them. We'll see.

Other things that recently happened: I'm experiencing a mild migraine once again. I dunno what caused it. I finally got to sleep early, and somehow my head's still aching for no reason. I slept for a bit this afternoon, but shouldn't that have made the migraine go away? I dunno.

I've been listening to the Opening Theme Song for Initial D lately. It's a really good theme song. It's edgy, and just captures the vibe of the anime real well. I still haven't finished watching season. Though that's fine. I actually don't wanna rush it. The series is so good, that I wanna savor the moment.

I've been playing Asphalt 9: Legends a lot. It's the perfect game for me to play right now, seeing as I'm also watching an anime centered around street racing. My blood pumps whenever I play it. The game's fashioned in a way that you HAVE to play it over and over and over again, and I'm fine with that so far. It's not a boring game, so of course I can deal with having to play several games in order to get to the next stages.

I've recently placed a few episodes of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger on my Tablet. I haven't watched an episode of it for a few days now, so it seemed like the right move to put some episodes on the tablet, so that I could watch an episode even as I'm lying on my bed. I was doing this sort of thing back when I was still in the process of watching Kamen Rider. But because I decided to use my tablet to record gaming videos, there wasn't really enough space for me to put a few episodes of a show in.

I only decided to put some in the tablet now, because, well, fuck it, you know? I'm sure that I'll have enough memory to squeeze in one gaming session.

I don't have anything to talk about at this point. I watched The One last Saturday. It sort of reminded me of the Loki series, and how it delved in Multiverse-shenanigans. It makes me think that Marvel might take inspiration from this movie. I'm calling it right now: Kang (an evil version of him) is going to kill his other selves, and a good Kang will remain to fight this evil version. Or something like that. I dunno.

Almost forgot: I read this comic called Sledgehammer 44, which is a Mike Mignola comic. It was okay. The story was cool: Robots are fighting in World War 2 time, and an evil Ghost Rider rip-off with black flames is also there, just because. The art style was good in the first two issues, but when it got to Lightning War, the art style sort of changed, which I didn't really like. The first style had this slight cartoon-y vibe to it, and the second style was sort of gritty and edgy. I'm excited to read more comics.
